What we need…

COCC is looking for a DevOps Security Engineer that will serve as a strong technical resource in supporting and enhancing COCC’s Managed Security Services. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of network security controls including firewall, proxy, multifactor authentication and email security, and be able to help manage/troubleshoot/enhance these environments. Additionally, the position will also serve as a resource for championing further automation with other security-oriented platforms. The candidate should have a comfort level working with a diverse set of individuals and their backgrounds, a collaborative approach to problem-solving, and a consultative mindset. Must be able to work without supervision and use advanced knowledge to make judgement calls.

What you’ll do…

-Support and enhance COCC’s managed security services, with a larger focus on our webhosting platform/services
-Participate in process improvement & task automation across our platforms and services
-Serve as technical expert in assisting analysts in addressing break/fix issues & infrastructure enhancements
-Maintain services, including upgrades and patches
-Participate as a valued team member, and apply technical expertise to help inspire change, issue resolution, and innovation
-Apply critical thinking skills to problem solving
-Develop plans to implement enhancements, and execute

What you’ll bring…

-Bachelor’s degree with an IT-related discipline preferred
-Security certification (Security+, GSEC, etc) or equivalent experience a plus
-Three to seven years’ experience in Cyber Defense
-Experienced in SPLUNK (SPL, Dashboard, Rule creation, etc)
-Ability to manage LAMP/LEMP stacks required, Windows/IIS experience a plus
-Experience with automation tools (Ansible, GIT, etc)
-Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical information and explain in detail
-Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management both orally and in writing
-Ability to work effectively with both internal staff and clients
-Ability to manage & share team workload among peers
-Ability to train, mentor, and collaborate with other team members
-Scripting knowledge required for automating tasks – examples include Python, Perl, and PowerShell
-Strong understanding of Internet protocols, including TCP/IP, SMTP, DNS, and HTTP(S), etc.
-Experienced with cloud computing services such as AWS, Azure, etc a plus
-Experienced with virtualization and container technologies a plus
